Sweet garage sale find

Hey guys, check out what I found:

I paid $5 for this thing. Works, too, just needs a bit of lube in the lock. Mounted to a heavy board/stand, cut away pretty cleanly, and included a change key, master key, and control key.

Nice pickup! I picked up one of these secondhand as well, though it wasn't a cutaway. Posted a teardown a while back; should it be of use to you in your restoration, I've linked it below.

Awe, thanks!

This was the first locksmith/locksport related thing I've found at a garage sale. I spent the better part of 20 minutes searching all the other little piles and jars of hardware in case there was anything else, but there was nothing else.

Now I just need to decide what to do with it besides cleaning/oiling and making a few failed attempts to pick it. I'll either sell it to a collector, or keep it as a decoration.

Robotnik, the lock in your post looks nice. And it taught me that the bolt could be retracted with the key. Mine was so sticky and hard to turn I didn't realize it did that.

Has anyone ever seen a cutaway display like this, or do you think it was fabricated by its owner?

The mount itself looks like something home- or shop-made rather than factory, but as far as the cutaway, Jeff would know way better than I. I've never seen one like it. Regardless of whether it's factory or homemade, it's well done and a nice piece.

You rang?

Pretty cool find. I have never seen a cutaway one before. At first I thought it had been broken and then I read the post. It could be factory but who knows. Either way you have a cool piece to your collection.
