Cledry,
some questions about your installation, the hinge type?? is this one of them piano hinges (Hager-roton geared hinge) those geared hinges and OHC closers DO NOT PLAY WELL together. and will reduce the max angle of opening, this in turn can be a cause to damaged tracks or damaged spring bump stops,
max angle of opening of this door?? what do you have the spring set to?? the range on the blue Jackson is 1-4. and just as 20ctops asked, what type of building is this door used in?? schools (K-12 and colleges) get the most closer abuse/damage,
thinking, is there a way you can have a metalworker make a heavier duty track or stronger bolts so the spring stop don't become damaged in future?? also, possible the max degree of opening for closer has reached its limit and the roller in track is near end of the track (maybe you can move track more towards hinge edge so door max opening will not destroy the spring stop).
the best way to get max degree of opening with a Jackson may be to install it as central hung (door connected directly to the shaft with a side or end load arm.
just a note, the blue Jackson is NOT ANSI grade 1, ONLY the BLACK one is (fixed size spring)
door closer expert
if its not broke dont fix it!
