Utilities cupboard lock?

Hello all,

First time poster, hoping for some advice.

I recently moved and need to access the locked outdoor utilities cupboard in order to read the gas meter. No one seems to have a key, but I've been told I can buy one anywhere as it's a standard key. The problem is I have a four-way utilities key (like this) and all four ends are way too big. A standard British Gas key also doesn't work as those are triangular and this is round.

Anyone have any suggestions?

really can't tell anything about it, looks like it might be a lever lock, or similar to the kind your key fits. If you have a legit reason to get in there, contact the gas company and see what they say.

From that picture I'd say it was a 'rack bolt' lock, which uses a 'star' key which you can buy from any locksmith or even DIY store.
Just hope if it is one of them it isn't seized as they can be bit of a pain if the teeth of the lock are rusted.
