victorylocksmith wrote:the issue with the rytan is it is missing a power cord. also, it is a 12v version so it is designed to work with a cigarette lighter, however, i have a legit power inverter for my van so i dont see much point in having it and i fear using a regular power cord without say for instances cannibalizing a laptop step down transformer so i dont burn the thing out.

You don't want to go there, your inverter is maybe 85% efficient and a switching power supply with enough amperage to run the 12 volt motor is probably going to be 80%-85% efficient, so right off the top you are drawing 30% or more amperage off of your vehicles electrical system.

Take the machine and hard wire it to the vehicles electrical system with an in-line fuse at the source of the power, the parts needed can be sourced from almost any automotive parts store, if you cannot find the parts or don't feel comfortable with building a wiring harness send me the specs, wire length, motor amperage and terminal size and I will build you one for $10-$15 + USPS Priority shipping.

Depending on the motor size you basically need power wire (ga depends on length and motor amps) a switch and 12 v relay possibly.

Starting with a 12v system and inverting to 110 only to invert to 12v again is like being employed by the special Olympics. Even though it works it is still retarded.
For the best book out there on high security locks and their operation, take a look at amazon.com for High-Security Mechanical Locks An Encyclopedic Reference. Written by our very own site member Greyman! A true 5 Star read!!
