Lockpickers of SAN DIEGO!

Time has come to unite!

Just picked your first lock?
Oh wait,
you have been picking locks for 78 and a half years?

Well either way, we must join to master our skills through knowledge and hands on practice!

We can discuss location, organization, and information that will be discussed!

All that are for, say aye!

This is a bit depressing isn't it? I'm in Chula Vista and drive up every 3rd Friday of the month to LA for our locksport meetup. It's worth it.

Oh man...
Maybe one day.

But I'll be up in LA for the next meetup though. I'm looking forward to meeting you all.

And just so I add something of value to this thread...in October is a security conference in San Diego that will host some lockpicking events and related contests. I'll be running the village there and if JK is sober enough he might pitch in as well : ) Some extra info available here:

http://sandiego.toorcon.org

If you pre-register now it's cheaper to attend! Hope to see some of you there.

So since I don't know much at all about hacking, and I have never been to one of these conventions, what can you tell me about it? I want to explore new things, and hacking/computer security seems interesting, but I have no little-to-none experience with programming. Would a convention such as this be over the top for me?

It's a 2.5 day event that includes many presentations on security, typically computer security but there are a few physical security (and lockpicking) talks usually. Toorcon is a small conference, so it is mostly focused around the talks.

There are also various areas like the vendor area, contest area, and lockpicking village. I believe they'll also have an area setup for badge hacking again this year, and probably some sort of video games for people just wanting to relax. There's also some parties at night, good food nearby, and so on.

I think the best way to learn about stuff is to dive in, so if you're interested in computers, programming, hardware hacking, lockpicking, etc this is a good way to immerse yourself. When you leave you have a nice list of interesting topics you can choose to explore. Seeing everyone do cool projects and presentations is also a great motivator.

Anyways, we can chat more about it at the LA meeting in September. The October meeting will technically be held AT toorcon, so you have to show up :P

Sounds great actually, so I'll try and go.

I saw that you're presenting about forensics, that's pretty cool. 8)

See you at the meeting though.

I have been searching for an experienced lock picker or club for a few years now. I just moved to CA and am excited to learn a new skill. I live in Imperial Beach, If anyone in the San Diego area would be willing to give me some tips and other information I would greatly appreciate it.

thought I would say hello.. I'm new to this board but have been lurking on it for a while.. I'm interested in someone teaching me more about lock picking.. I've started with handcuffs and zip ties and can get out of them.. I'm looking to learn more about getting into things.. I live in North Park San Diego.. if anyone is interested in meeting up let me know. I'm also an artist and maybe looking to use this for an art piece.. Hit me up!

Looking for a way to spread the lockpicking love among local San Diegans? Look no further! I am working with a small group of brilliant people in San Diego on a free, floating school for students of all ages, offering free classes in public spaces around San Diego, called Knowledge Commons San Diego. We hope to begin our first class session in the fall with some fun and unique one-time classes taught by San Diegans for San Diegans, one of which could be lockpicking!

I was wondering if there was anyone on this forum who is local and would be interested in teaching a free Lockpicking 101 class with our school sometime between September-October 2015. I and my team will help secure space and provide back-end support, but class material development will be up to you! If you're interested, please PM me and we can go from there!
