I did have the opportunity to search the kwiklocks.com site before posting. The other link you provided wasn't as overwhelmingly helpful as i (or any lock hound) would hope, but I know more now than I did before your charity, and that's what eForums are all about.
Sadly still seeking info though. These locks seem to be several levels above Kwikset, but also seem to be linked with them, as you have suggested. I have actually never successfully picked one. Keep in mind, of course that I have only tried to get them open while they were on doors of my friends etc... Locks with names I'm unfamilar with always catch my eye. So I tried quick rake attempts while a one night stand seached drunkingly for her keys, etc. I've also tried bouncing & scrubing both with feeler pick and my favorite half diamonds. I know that any picker could open any pin-tumbler if given the time, a comforatable chair and a bright light, but I was amazed at how well the Defiant label held up to my favorite quick attacks! My scub & bounce technique opens most locks most of the time, in less than 5 minutes. Even mushroom and spooled plugs.
These locks don't seem fit enough to put up as much resistance as they actually do. *note I've tried the above techniques on like five of them with NO success!! (I've been an avid picker for over a decade. I pick a few hours EVERY day.)
Couple this with the lack of availible info (including pictures) and I'm semi-obsessed. You know, 70% of even the most tightly warded yale (and mortise unbranded) locks surcum to my scrub & bounce in a few minutes. I almost never have to pick a door mounted lock pin-by-pin. (Of course I always do, that's what it's about. It just sucks to have to. It's nice to be able to solve a puzzle quickly as well as thoughtfully. So I'd like to find the 'key' to these things. I'd buy one, but I find that it's more chalanging to work the locks that have already conconcured me without too much inside info, no pun intended. But maybe thats what I'm going to end up doing. Then the mystery will be over and I'll be back to ABUS.)
(Scream if you hate abus. Go ahead, scream.)
Well, enough of my ranting. Just thought that it was a puzzle others might like to partake in. *note Defiant is actually cheaper in price than Kwikset!
