Abus 83/45 shackle falls out

Postby ChrisZ » 17 Aug 2015 14:31

Hello,
I tried rekeying my Abus padlock. After I rekeyed it I noticed that if I turn the key all the way to the open position the shackle will fall out. This only happens when I have the z bar in the non key retaining position. How do I prevent this from happening?

Thanks Chris

Is it possible that the actuator is 180 degrees out?

Leaving the z bar out seems to have solved the problem.

This is my pick also. The actuator is the part the 'z bar' rides on

The actuator it is. If you look closely at the actuator, the cutout on one side is deeper than the other.

Also, on a few types of padlocks out there, the bearings that lock the padlock are different sizes. So if you are not familiar with a lock, be aware of that!
