TiGr bike lock

Information about locks themselves. Questions, tips and lock diagram information should be posted here.

TiGr bike lock

Postby femurat » 31 Aug 2015 7:11

Today I've seen a bike locked to a light pole with this cool lock. I'm sure I've seen mentioned here or on another forum but can no longer find the thread.
Looks an abloy stile lock. I've found the manufacturer website, looks cool but ain't cheap (it costs as much as my bike) http://www.tigrlock.com
In theory one should be able to lock both wheels and the bike frame to the pole, but judging from how this bike was locked, it's not that easy. He left the front wheel unlocked.
Anyway, here are a couple pictures.

Enjoy :)

Have the locking mechanism from a TiGR lock. Actually fairly well made. IIRC, it has eight discs. The only real problem I could see with the entire lock was how do you carry it on the bike?

You're supposed to wrap it along the horizontal part of the frame. It has rubber o-rings to prevent scratching the frame and two velcro straps to hold it in place.

Cheers :)

That lock was designed by John Loughlin from Stanton Concepts, the same folks who did the RKS Robo Key System https://securitysnobs.com/Stanton-Concepts/

Originally the lock on that TiGr lock was an Abloy Protec, and they had a Kickstarter to fund the project.

In production though, a cheaper generic "fabloy" was used.

Very cool to see it out in the wild Femurat!
