Remarkably my Peterson Bogie broke in the same way on the same type of lock.
My commiseration on your loss.

It looks pretty short. Can you even use it on locks with more pins? If you haven't already, you should sand the end, it'll be sharp.

It is just the rigtht lenth to work. Most of the time your only going in using half the picks lenth anyway..even a six pin lock i can reach all the way to the last pin.

So I wrote to sparrow and let them know what had happened and they said that they were sorry and that they are shipping out a new one to watch for it in the mail.

Nice to hear that they were willing to do that for you. It may not be the kind of warranty they can offer on every sale but it shows that they know how to do business.

How often do you break a pick?

I have bent spring steel picks but haven't broken a stainless pick...yet.

How does stainless compare to the molybdenum used in Peterson picks?
