help on wrench for tubular pick without tubular lockpick

Postby sojal » 8 Nov 2004 9:25

After watching the video from the locksmith CD where he picks a tubular lock with a standard pick by depressing the pins one by one, I decided to try it myself with a 'cheap' tubular laptop lock (ie: the ones with some kind of small chain used to attach the laptop somewhere).

I have managed to depress the pins one by one and got them all to stay down at respective shear lines (at least that's I think), but the tension is an absolute nightmare. I have tension wrenches twisted in whichever way, but impossible to pop the lock open.

Anyone knows where I can get that special tension wrench he used in the video, or if anyone knows another source or way to apply tension properly on a tubular lock?

Thanks.

I used an allen wrench that i ground down into a rectangular shape so that it would fit properly.

Bic pens and toliet rolls are in vouge for picking these nowadays, and there is buzz that tubular locks are no longer secure. Do a search to find out more.
