There is a meetup every month at Neptune Coffee in Greenwood which I could literally walk to but I always think of looking up when the next one is about three days after it has already occurred. Oh well, guess I will have some more skills and some more locks to bring to the table when I actually make it there.

I know this thread is old but I wanted to let anyone know who might come by this, that
the aforementioned group that was meeting at Neptune coffee now meets at Ada's
Technical Books. I have started a separate thread for that meetup and all who
would like to come out. I hope that we get some people from here. I really look forward to meeting you.

So, I totally spaced on the December meet, but I'll be there in January if y'all will be! I've been working on my picks, and I'm very satisfied with my freshman and sophomore pick-making results. I'm actually considering saving up or Kickstartering some funds to get one of those desktop CNC laser cutter dealybobbers, as I think I'm pretty good at making picks, especially the fine finish work. I just can't spend 90% of my pick-making time on basic shaping with the Dremel if I really want to make any decent quantity of 'em and get into business making them for real. I'm also thinking of maybe going with a 3D printer, so I can make plastic handles (a la Bosnianbill's video on the subject: https://youtu.be/rSKuvAliZa8), allowing me to cut back hugely on my metal-shaping time by starting off with wiper inserts, instead of the larger blanks of metal required to make one-piece all-metal picks. I also want to avoid accidentally annealing my picks, so I currently keep 'em off the grinding wheel for the most part and just use the Dremel with some sweet reinforced discs a buddy of mine turned me on to. Anyway, I'm all caffeinated and chatty, rambling in no real direction here... I'm hoping to show off some of my work, have some folks try 'em out, and get some feedback from the more seasoned hands (or anyone else with any input, I don't discriminate until you give me a reason to ) at the next get-together.
