First Bogota

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

First Bogota

Hi,

I tried making my first bogota with a 3D printed handle from Bosnianbill!

Haven't been able to find metal strips like I want so I used a bi-cobalt hacksaw blade.

Edited the thread title. Please, it is a Bogota, not a Bobo, Bogo, Bogie, Boogie, Booger, Boozer or whatever. It is hard enough for new users to figure out our terms without creating new ones.

Thank You,

Gordon

I have misplaced my smalled tension tool, so I'm having issues using it actually.

But I hope it will do :)

Well done. Beautiful work. It looks stunning especially with the printed handle.

I have a friend who produces Bogotas from short kitchen knifes. Usually with wooden handles.
He uses them in his business. I find it interesting that he has 8 different ones.
He showed me them in action in his shop and they are quite effective.
Very nice to hold as well.

He told me that it is much easier to carry the small set when he goes to site.

Good work. I think making a Bogota should be part of the initiation into locksport. There is something about the "pick".

I still use my bogotas when I'm having trouble spp'ing a lock. I've gotten very good at combining the motion with feeling and targeting pins. The bogota is the reality check for when I'm getting frustrated with SPP. I know if I can rake/jiggle the lock then I should be able to SPP. There are some locks with serrated pins that I have huge problems with, but the Bogota usually works.

I look at it as positive reinforcement and not a crutch
