Lockpick set i made for my Dad

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

Did you like the quality of the set i made?

Lockpick set i made for my Dad

Postby Maliphus7 » 17 Nov 2015 17:34

Wanted to share a set i made for my Dad to help get him interested and having fun in Locksport! The bogota/tripple rake there i kept it a bit bulky to start so he could abuse it a little more during learning phase while learning how to use light tension and he caught on super quickly and i took it and slimmed it up for him to normal size about 1 week after i gave him the set i just wanted to mention that since i took this picture prior to slimming that and looks kinda bulky to the keen eye :) and that is a .010 shim tool in the back right corner. The Tensioner is also double ended with a shorter arm on other end and little fatter also hand needle filed small teeth. The Key is a Warded Pick. Also this was taken a little before my final sand and polish and before I finished the case. (P.S. I do all polishing and final sanding by hand not machine and use 2000 Grit in my final then chrome polish)

The case was Duel layers i put a padlock and lots of various tensioners of all sizes and types and shapes along with a Clay bottom storage space and i put a clay bottom storage space in the top layer also in front of the picks when i finished. I bent over some Metal and pushed it in the ends and polished it to make handles so the layers could be removed easily in and out. Hope you guys like it! If you did i have some other creations i might share ;)

So apparently have to right click view image to see whole thing it gets cut off unless i re SS the other half i guess

Thats pretty cool. I bet your old man is going to love it, if I had a kid and they made me some lock picks and put it all together as a package I would appreciate the hell out of it. Hats off for doing something for someone else.

At first glance I thought those picks were on crushed ice like fish.

I agree with jbrint, that's a pretty neat gift for a father to receive from his son.

This was an awesome idea. I wish I had thought of something along these lines for my dad. It is now to late. I am planning though to make a set of picks using the 30-06 cartridges from his military funeral as handles. It will be a gift to my grandson one day.
