HELP about unkown old - lock system

Postby MrAntique » 18 Nov 2015 5:07

This is a storage from my grandpa he left behind in our house, I would not like to destroy the "safe place" I would like to open it gently so to keep it because it has emotinal value.

If you have any advise how to open it
-What type of lock is this? (how its named?)
-What tools do I need to open it?
-Can I somwhere buy a key for it?

Hello and welcome to the forum. I've deleted your other thread, you don't need to ask the same question more than once

About your question, the pictures are quite good actually, I can see it's a lever lock, probably a good quality one. If you're new to lock picking I suggest you call a locksmith and ask a quote to open that safe. It's not a lock a beginner can easily pick open: you'll need a special tool and hours, even days of practice before you are actually able to open that lock.
Be sure to call a reputable locksmith, there are scammers out there that have big ads saying it will cost you 25 dollars to do the job and when they come and do the job, for a reason or another, ask you 300 for the job and 300 for a new lock!

Good luck and keep us updated :)

First of all, thank you for your answer!

I wanted to replace the topic to the other category and delete the post first posted because I believed its a better place to ask.

Thank you for your information, I will research my area for professionals.

:)
