They skipped the Fourth this year. :( I did use search yesterday, it returned "These words were too common and were ignored, peterson, discount and code." I tried it again today and it found my post.

Thank you,

Dave

I buy from Peterson. Which picks (material) does everyone here use? The government steel or electroless nickel plated?

The only Peterson's I have now are borrowed from a friend. They are the pry bars, which I love and are goverment steel and the standard size short hook which is not. I have to give back the pry bars and am going to order the classic and euro slender short hooks in government steel.

The ones that I put a lot of bending pressure, I get in electroless nickel. Simply because both will bend and break. I but the gem, short hook, and the the hook on automotive section because it has a longer blade. I usually buy or 5 of each when I order. I can't see paying the higher price when the cheaper one works as well and last almost as long. The bogies only come in government steel. I have all 3. I have broken a bogie before but have had these 3 for 6 months and still look great. 90% of the time I use the bogies, gem or hook, or half diamond. I use the Peterson pry bars or tension wrenches that I make from wiper blades. Doesn't take much in the line of picks to work on the majority of locks out there. Pick a few favorites and stick with them.

Just a quick update - Ken from Peterson responded very quickly and whilst unfortunately their system does not allow for partial refunds, he kindly offered to let me add items to the order equalling the discount that I would have gotten would I have added the discount to the cart at the time of order (E.g. if I had ordered $100 worth of stuff, and there was a 10% discount on, I'd be allowed to add $10 worth of more stuff, just as an example).

So, Props to Ken for including this extra stuff - he also asked that I remind members of the current discount code and also to sign up to the mailing list:

In return if you would be so kind as to advise any others in other chat rooms about the special and the discount code, and encourage them to join our new members email system (even if they have before) I would appreciate it. We have changed our members adding methods to avoid spam issues, and we lost a lot of sign-ups in the transition.

Key note from above - if you have already signed up to the Peterson mailing list, your sub may have been lost when they transitioned to a new system, so go sign up again if you haven't recently.

You can sign up to the members mailing list with THIS LINK - simply fill your email in and hit Subscribe. Bear in mind that it took about 10 or 20 mins for my email to come through so if you don't get it straight away, don't panic.
Hopefully it's acceptable for me to link to the mailing list URL here :).

As mentioned above, the current discount code is:

Code: Select all
tree

And is valid for a 15% discount.
