TCH Handcuffs

Did someone say handcuffs?

I have two pairs of TCH 800 handcuffs which are the chain linked, and also the TCH 840 (in black) which is hard-body. I believe that this is the one in use by the UK police. Both are double locking :)

Shame they just use the standard handcuff keys.. I've been seeing pics of those ones with Medeco and Assa cores - so nice!

Apologies for the strange colour - I shot these with my proper photography lights but used my point-and-shoot camera and the white balance turned out all wrong so I quickly corrected in Photoshop.. Never ends up looking great!

I take it the Assa and Medeco ones run the risk of officers losing their key and then not having a key for it, while with the standard key every officer has the same one, or can carry backups.

*Nods* There's the flip side to the security, I guess. Hope the officers are well trained pickers, too :).

Oooh nice. I've just ordered a set of these (the rigid black ones).
Looking forward to having a shot playing with them!

Are yours ex-UK-police? Apparently they have to have the S/N's ground off them if they are (no idea why...??)

I know that this model is used by the UK police but I'm not sure if these are ex-police. They're not been used (I bought them new from the supplier) but I can't check right now if they have any serial numbers as they're packed away due to moving house. I don't remember seeing any numbers though. They're nice cuffs :)

Wow!

Those are very nice, LocksportSouth!!!

My next (obvious) question is: Can they be shipped to the U.S.? or Are there any online sources that have them...maybe second hand from an officer or department extras?

They appear very rugged and well-made and I especially like that they are standard issue to English police. I cannot find very many nice out-of-country cuffs that are genuine issue except Yuli, Clejuso etc.

I just received a set of these a few days ago, sadly they were in worse condition than advertised and the movement is very stiff and one of the bow's is slightly bent...

You can find em on ebay from time to time, just search TCH840.

Unless your quite flexible, opening these cuffs facing away from your palms (even with the keys) is very tricky. So make sure someone's around if you play with them ;)

will do Handcuffsdude...and good on ya about the tip of possibly getting stuck--if anyone would, it would be me! That could get weird pretty quick. I hear you about ebay too as I have gotten both great and not-so-great items from them. I wish TCH dealt direct...

Just checked, definitely no serial numbers, just "TCH England" stamped into the main section and "TCH800" or "TCH840" respectively for the chain linked / solid body cuffs, on the locking arm.

I've had these for about 4 or 5 years now so no idea where I found them to be honest, but I'm pretty sure it was a website, not eBay or Amazon etc, although both of those might be a good source for these. I just did a quick Google and This site seems to sell them :)

I have a pair of TCH842 (keyholes on both sides version of what the UK police carry) and a pair of TCH800. But my 800's have blemishes on that I seem unable to remove. Maybe I would need some kind of special metal cleaner?

Edit: Mine all have serial numbers as I bought them directly brand new from an online police-gear vendor.
Need to improve my SPP. I lose my pin position easily, press between pins, need to know which pick and when to swap.
