Walker Locksmith Catalog

Hey Guys, I just tried to order the latest e-download of the Walker Locksmith catalog in England from Canada. I asked the company a question about it and this was their response to me. Perhaps I would get the same response if I ordered product. If this is how the home country treats the colonies no wonder they have problems. I was going to order a particular book back ordered from someone else but now have obviously decided to get it from Amazon instead. I have placed orders with Peterson, SouthOrd, Southern Specialty, Sparrows, Storm and one or two others with no problems. Walker...well I guess I don't quite understand the humour but then again I didn't invent Monty Python, and if I did - the comeback would be of a higher tone of amusement. I see on the modest previewer here that the word 'crap' has been inserted. The actual text says," Dear Prince of s**t.' PS. I don't know what a 'wanker' is.

Dear Walker, I would like to download your latest catalogue but your billing wants to charge me almost 4 pounds for the e- down load. That doesn't seem quite right to me since it's my paper and toner to be used. Would you think about this? Thank you, Roy Berger.

Funny you should mention Walker. I have an order in with them at the moment, and I received an (unrelated) circlip removing tool from eBay which was no good (the pins at the end are too thick to fit between the cam and the bock body) so I started researching other circlip removers and came across Walker. I was about to place another order when I decided to do a little research and came across a few threads talking about their terrible customer services and poor quality products. Here's a link to another forum talking about their bad experiences (if that link isn't allowed and gets removed, search google for "Abloy disc detainer pick for sale!" - it's the second link down.

Also check out This video from Kokomolock reviewing a lever padlock picking set from Walker. He also mentioned that the person who bought this set got a load of abuse, as do many of the comments.

There's good evidence out there that Walker are unprofessional and rude. I'm starting to regret placing my order with them (over £100) and hoping it comes through ok. Thankfully some of the products were branded with other companies (such as GOSO) so they should be ok.

Oh, and "wanker" is British slang. To wank is to jack off.. you know... masturbate, but "wanker" is used more like "f***er" :D
Hope this experience didn't put you off British people though! We're mostly very polite :)

Their prices are too high anyhow, don't they know you can buy Klom picks on banggood.com for half what they charge?

I always thought a 'wanker' was someone caught masturbating

Kinda - technically "wank" is slang for masturbation and therefore "wanker" is someone who is wanking (masturbating), but it's not used like that. It's a very British thing, but it's like calling someone a tosser (possibly also British; same meaning) or as google puts it, a contemptible person

[EDIT: Moved from General Chatter to Locksmith Supplies]

Please help keep the forum organized. Lockpicking101 is mainly a hobby locksport forum with some locksmith members and sections, not a locksmith forum with some locksport hobbyist members. We want all new members to feel welcome and not think they are not allowed because they think this is a forum for locksmiths only. All locksmith business related stuff should be posted and organized in the Locksmith Business Info sub forums, all other sub forums are for the hobby of lock picking. Locksmith Lounge would be the equivalent of the main forum's General Chatter if you just want to vent or post something trade/work related that doesn't fit anywhere else.

Thanks everybody and have a good weekend!

I can concur with the OP here. I have had dealings with Walker Locksmith Supplies and even I was shocked at the torrent of abuse that was hurled at me!

They got an order wrong and it seems I had the temerity to ask for it to be fixed.

Disgusting company, if ever you buy anything from them, you'd better be sure you don't want to send it back.

, I was looking through their webpage the other day. Guess I'm not shopping at walker..

Hope he finds a way to learn a lesson from this. Hope you don't get a classic not-pology. He was just having a bad day, his dog just died, his g/f just broke up with him, you know; anything but his own failings..

Thanks for the heads up man! I had an order mix up with Sparrows a couple weeks ago, they apologized and sent me another Right away, with a return envelope for the other item that was wrong. They gave me a proper and good explanation of why it happened. They accepted responsibility and made it %100 right in the very first email. That is good customer service, and why I return to Sparrows. I'm sure Peterson would do the same, they just haven't messed an order up (for me) yet.

Ditto, I had a similar experience with Sparrows. There was a small problem, I advised them nicely and they acted very professionally. Apologized and made it right super quickly. Great customer service. Can't recommend them highly enough!
