What's on your belt?

Pull up a chair, grab a cold one, and talk about life as a locksmith. Trade stories of good and bad customers, general work day frustrations, any fun projects you worked on recently, or anything else you want to chat about with fellow locksmiths.

What's on your belt?

Postby shutterstuff » 8 Dec 2015 20:03

I purchased a McGuire-Nicholas 804 about 6 months ago and my screwdriver is already poking through. I am looking at some Custom Leathercraft electricians tool pouches and got to wondering what everyone else likes to use?

I like the convenience of having basic tools with me when I leave the van for removing and installing most locks without having to go back. I think it also speaks "Professional" when you greet a client. You are ready for work!

I'd make a piece, out of sheet metal, to fit in the bottom so the screwdriver doesn't poke through. I like the Klein!

Thanks, I like the metal idea! And I love my Klein tools too. I use a terminal Block screwdriver for Adams Rite set screws and so on. Perfect fit. And the needle nose are great! I have yet to break these but I have bent several pairs of cheaper ones.

Take a look at NiteIze and Rip-Offs. They both make a ton of different pouches.

I have the older version of the Nite Ize Pock-its I have had for years and love it. But too small for what I need. I looked at Ripoffs and did not see anything like what I already have.

If you want a pouch that will resist your screwdriver you will need to step up to leather, that can get expensive

I did look at leather, and they were either too small or too big. Screwdriver and pliers only or full carpenters belt were all I could find. I think the above suggestion about metal will work. I will stop by a friends house this weekend as he said he has something that will work in his shop.

Sorry, I could not resist. I was actually looking for a heavy plumber (plumbers crack...) in suspenders to post and came across this one...

Thats just wrong.....

Anyway....

I Carry a Gerber Multi-tool, Flashight, 2 phones, 2 sets of keys ( one on reel, one on clip), Keedex in old multi-tool holster, Snap-on Racheting screwdriver, Pickset, Pocket screwdriver, Notepad, Pen.....

I usually look like a cop with it all on my belt and filling the pockets of my cargo pants

I love the looks when walking around the secure side of an airport terminal or government building while doing work.

note: my concealed carry sidearm also on me when im working but not in restricted areas like above.
