red disk lock question

OK I work for a multi part business, we have storage buildings, I am trying to figure out the disk locks. The Masterlock #40 those are a joke. Any tips for the disk locks?

If you work for them you should have a key if you have access. If you don't have a key then you do not have access. Simple as that.

a photo of the lock you're asking about would be tremendously helpful as we are not there with you and are not psychic. upload photos to http://imgur.com/ or http://tinypic.com and Paste the links here. your locks could be generic or they could be made by Abus of Germany and may contain security pins making picking much harder for a beginner. wont know what advice to give you till we see what you're asking about.

I have keys no issue there, I am just trying to learn to pick them. I work as the IT guy for the company and was introduced to lock-picking by my coworker. Ill have to upload a pick of the lock. Im just trying to learn how to pick it for the challenge of defeating it.

Sorry I should know better A noob mistake. Note to self (Don't Post when Tired)
The locks are only branded (See Manager) and China on back. I have a master key, I just want to learn to pick them. Some days I have little work to do so I play with locks.

when you're at work take an actual picture of one of them.. I know what a discus padlock looks like, I want to see your *actual* lock to see who made it. it could be an Abus clone like the generic internet photo you posted, or it could be a real Abus, or a Chateau, or something else..

Let me dig around, I think Baton or LAI made/makes these, will follow up later today.

look at page 64 of this nice interactive catalog Chateau provides, you'll see your red See Manager padlocks on the top left of the page. Below it says 5 pins with anti pick mushroom pins. (search here for Mushroom Pins, or search google image search, they're like Spool Pins) I'd say those will be a pain to pick but it will provide a great challenge as you get better and better.

Also remember the golden rules of lockpicking:

Don't pick locks that aren't your own personal property, or which the actual owner has given you permission to pick.

Don't pick locks that anyone does rely upon or will be relying upon for security.

We have dedicated threads here about people who have run into trouble because they refuse to believe you can break a lock by picking it.

Thank you for the feed back. We have disk locks we sell also in a pack I'm going to see if they are branded.. I'll look over the links provided

Some other readers might be as confused as I was until the picture; there is a difference between 'disc lock' and 'Discus' (does it still have a capital now it's so widely cloned?)
And just btw, the original Abus Discus was a lever lock, long ago ... .
