Hi gents,
I went for the same knife but with a plastic handle ,its much ligfhter and although ive not used the metal version ive used another manafactures which is almost identical,
I love it and took delivery friday after a 9 day wait (which in all fairness was pointed out at time of sale ).No problems at all .so maybe act has indeed been cleaned up.

In action the tool is light and looses no feeling ,actually feels better than any goso or handled picks.
I prefer southord slimlines over all the others.

I have never used it, but i think the tool look very thick/wide
i know there are many eruo loks where they would not fit in.

The southern specialties FPS-8 is awesome. The lockbar is SUPER tight but I am hoping that it will loosen up with use. Feel is great, and the pick selection is OK, but I will be customising soon. I definitely recommend one over the Southord which I hated. Not so sure the metal body is worth double the price, so I might get the composite body instead but its a great buy!

Just received the Southern Specialty folding lock pick FPK-8. Arrived in four days. I have another folding lock pick that uses a small thumb screw to hold the picks in place. I find that sort to be wiggly and annoying but better than nothing in my wallet. But the Southern model, stamped RCS tool co has worked it out. The tension bar presses out with one push, no fiddling. The picks seem fine and stiff. Instead of a thumbscrew this model uses a lever on the side with a little cam action. This holds the picks stiffly in place so there isn't the slightest wiggle in any direction. It's like holding a normal pick. I opened a lock right away. Maybe carry this little honey with a couple of flat tension wrenches wrapped to it with an elastic band. The replacement picks are plentiful and easy enough to insert. I'm going to say this is the best and the highest quality model on the market. I feel I've explored the market all over the web. The shipping price to Canada though is insane and way over the top. No other USA company charges so much for such a small item but if you tell yourself you are paying $66 US for a top product maybe it's easier to swallow. So, final thought, this is the best folding pick available. Put it in your wallet coin pouch and forget it's there.
