What did $10 get?

Information about locks themselves. Questions, tips and lock diagram information should be posted here.

What did $10 get?

Postby GWiens2001 » 6 Jan 2016 15:57

Won an auction for three locks recently. Just got the locks today.

Looks cheap enough. But was it worth the money? You decide. Here is what I got for $9.99 (plus shipping).

Image

Burg 5 lever lock. Worth $10 yet? Meh. Next up...

Image

Abus Granit 37/55 with Abus Plus core, two keys and key tag. :D Worth $10 yet? Yeah, I'd say so. But wait... we're not done! One more lock to go...

Image

Uhmmm. Yeah, that's a Fichet padlock with an "H" keyway. Two keys and even the security card.

If you look in the keyway, you can see ball bearings at each lever to reduce wear.

Image

Oh, and here is a picture of the three locks with the addition of an American 747 for scale. These are not tiny locks.

It seems my money was well spent. What do you think?

I dunno, think you mighta got hosed. For $10, you sure there wasn't a NAPEC DCP in with it?

Seriously though, amazing score. I think I spent more than that on lunch this afternoon.

I think you did OK.

BTW, did you ever do anything with the Abus Granit X bike lock?

Yeah, I use it at least once a week with my bike. Wouldn't mind having a second one for my wife's bike.

Very nice!
I haven't seen the all-metal style ABUS Plus blank before. At first I thought it's a cheap knock-off - but no - more likely something rare, at least for me.

The current Abus Plus keys have a plastic head on them. Yes, this is an older version, which is good, since the Abus Plus pick I have works on it. :)
