DiResta: Key making

Postby kwoswalt99- » 7 Jan 2016 22:21

I found these browsing youtube the other day. I don't usually like his videos because of the way he treats his tools, but some of them are interesting. In the first video, I like the way he folds the key, but he needs to take some lessons from Lauren on how to make a key without taking apart the lock. I thought it was funny how he ended up impressioning it anyway after opening it up.
Hope you guys like them!

Thank you for posting your videos of direstas key making
In his defence he may mistreat his tools
I disagree with plasma cutting a perfectly good handsaw to make a machete
But the tools he does make are works of art

And i think we all need lessons from lauren

Lauren are you interested?

I had a client a few years ago who wanted a copy of the key to his 17th century monastery door lock, which he actually uses
every day. I just took his original key to the welder, who was happy to find me a piece of 3/8" thick steel to cut the bit from,
which I did at home with my die grinder. The welder then welded the bit onto the end of some round rod, and he then bent
a smaller piece of round rod into a small circle, which he welded onto the end of the shaft. I went and hand fitted the key,
which needed just a bit of hand filing and a new key was born. I charged $135 for all the running around & filing & welding
