made my own vault door

Forgot how to dial the combination on that old safe? Think you got the right numbers but the handle is stuck? What safe should you buy? Ask your safe questions here!

Of course, it will be postage due. With shipping costs, cost of a crate, and import tariffs, it should run 90,000 Euros. ;)

wow, just wow. VERY cool work there! That is a fine example of German engineering. Is the whole thing a steel box,or are the sides and back wood?

Hey guys :)

Thanks for the kind words again :)

The sides, back, top and bottom is wood, because of the weight and because of several reasons i explained in one of my replies here. Next time i will get new pics in here :)

Best regards

That's very nice. It was fun watching the progress over on AL.
If only I had a mill and a lathe, I could make one myself. Maybe someday...

Wow, that is some vault door. I think I sat here slackjawed for about 10 minutes in awe! I envy your machinist skills.

Well, I can't claim any special knowledge about either machining or vaults, so I'm clearly not appreciating this to the same extent as some others here. But I can recognise fine craftsmanship and attention to detail when it's looking me in the eye. :) Hats off to you, Maik, that's a seriously impressive piece of work.

Your kindness is exceeded only by your humility. I think this guy's comment summed it up pretty well.

I look forward to seeing the pictures when you have it done.

@The Locksmith:

Well thank you very much, its really an honor for me to receive such nice words from all of you :) And I am really happy that you like this project so much!

In a couple of weeks I will continue this work and if you like, I would give you some status updates (Photos, videos on youtube, etc.). I will first continue on building the remote combination viewer. I gathered all the missing parts together now (gears, bearings, housings) and so I am looking forward to finish this big part of the door. The used locks for the door are two Kromer high security 3-wheel combination locks.

Guys, thanks again for the kind words, you are motivating me to actually do some videos about the construction and operation of the door :) My speeches in the coming videos will be in English of course!

Best regards from Germany
