Repinning a double dimple lock

Postby Thanshin » 2 Feb 2016 9:46

I haven't managed to find a video or tutorial about how to repin/reassemble a lock such as this:
http://www.ukbumpkeys.com/products/5-pi ... imple-lock

I know how to disassemble/reassemble a standard (all pins lined in the key plane), one side, lock.

Found my answer. I need a pinning shoe to remove the plugs from the front.

Thanks!

Is it also possible to remove de driver pins and put them back in both sides of a two side lock?

I imagine how to remove both plugs (from the front with a pin shoe or hairpin) and how to put them back (with a follower) in one of them. But, how to you put the second lock's drivers once the first is in place and you can't slide the follower through?

Sure, it's easy. The hairpin, or better the proper tool, can be used to put back the pins and springs, one by one, before inserting the plug.

Cheers :)

So, all from the front, I'd put each spring and driver pin from first to last, and cover it with the hairpin as I move back, right?

I predict much trial and error, but I don't see a reason it shouldn't eventually work. :)

Right. And be sure to fill every chamber with a spring and a pin, otherwise you could end up with a "locked" lock!

Good luck :)
