Winchester gun safe...

Forgot how to dial the combination on that old safe? Think you got the right numbers but the handle is stuck? What safe should you buy? Ask your safe questions here!

Winchester gun safe...

So I bought a gun safe a couple of years back and guess what? I forgot the combination... I have been working on getting it open and I have figured out the last two numbers of the combo. While I can tell you it has a s&g 6700 lock mechanism... I can't say how I have gotten to my current predicament as that is geared for the advanced area of the forum... I would greatly appreciate if someone who knows these locks inside and out were able to give me some advice...
Imagine a world without locksmiths...
We'd be in deep trouble.
It wouldn't ever happen though.

Well, if you already know the last two numbers of the combination, just try all the possibles first number... that will open your safe.

Good luck :)

You can call the factory and they usually have a form you can complete, in order to get the combo it was set at when it
left the factory. As long as the combo hasn't been changed, that should work

If you already have two of the numbers, grab a few beers and start dialing!

You can go by 2s to save time.
2-x-x
4-x-x
6-x-x

This is within dialing tolerances of that lock.
For the best book out there on high security locks and their operation, take a look at amazon.com for High-Security Mechanical Locks An Encyclopedic Reference. Written by our very own site member Greyman! A true 5 Star read!!
