Is this device a lock pick gun?

Postby Stonebreaker » 13 Feb 2016 3:39

I trying to find the purpose of the device below, several people have suggested that it's a lock pick gun but I can't find any like it on the web. Anyone here recognize it?

Looks more like some type of tool to apply banding or strapping to bales/boxes/bundles......

If you add a flux capacitor it becomes lethal.

looks like a tool for punching a hole and threading. From the mechanics of it looks like a spool of thread or twine goes at the top and a needle above the blade.
Pull the bottom trigger and it makes a hole or small cut, top trigger pulls the blade back and pushes the line or twine through the hole.

Im just guessing here so don't beat me up if I'm way off. It could also be medical.

Can you make a short video of its movements? Im actually very curious about this.

It doesn't look like a lock pick gun. I too would like to see it in action. How do the gears come into play?

It is a self-circumcision tool. It comes as a kit and is popularly sold in divorce kits that women buy.

I'll ask about getting a video, I would like to see one myself. The person who sent me the photos got them from a friend, so I'm two people removed from this device. Thanks to everyone for the replies!

I'm still trying to decide whether it looks homemade or mass produced.

too bad google patents doesn't use something like tineye.com to back track photos and diagrams back to a patent drawing. This item has a very specific shape/profile.

I'm very curious as to what this was used for.

Looks like a combination of aluminum (for larger parts to save weight) and steel. Not stainless steel, which goes against it being some sort of medical device. Something as old as it looks would probably have patent numbers stamped on it if it was patented. If it was not patented it was probably not mass-produced.

A random guess would be something custom made at a factory to assist in setting something up for production. Some job that took three hands. Maybe it would hook onto a piece of wire or string and then gripping the back aluminum piece it would grab on to the other wire or string to splice onto, then the first trigger would move something into position then the other trigger would release it? Or maybe it was something used for upholstery work in a factory, so one person could do something that used to take two people?

Thats kind of what I was thinking, I have seen micro bailers (their term, not mine) custom made for glove manufacturers to bundle and package gloves but didn't look anything like this. They were also air controlled. Punch a hole in the top of the gloves, affix and stitch a label. This thing is kind of macabre looking and I would love to see it in action even if it is missing pieces.

Maybe it is just a Rube Goldberg machine that does something ridiculously simple that could very easily be achieved without it. Or someone made it to make curious people ask questions and wonder.
