Mad Bob's lockpicks

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

Mad Bob's lockpicks

Postby dhk42 » 26 Feb 2016 21:48

I was looking at Mad Bob picks the other day and <almost> ordered some, but got distracted.

Then bosnianbill did a review. A glowing review. Now they are sold out. Of everything.

I propose we call this the "bosnianbill effect".

Sigh. Has anyone else tried them?

That's funny. I watched BB's video review and thought about purchasing since it's such a good deal (value). Ended up not because I use Petersen's stuff almost exclusively.

I was already waiting for a few picks to get back in stock about a week before bosnianbill's video. Now I'm in the long queue, hoping they keep some kind of "first come first serve" list.

I ordered a Ghost kit....then I sent them an email requesting a black case. Within an HOUR I got a response that they'd make the change....and HOUR!!! THAT is service! Plus the set is guaranteed for life. Due to the exchange rate going up between BB's vid and my order...it was around $42 shipped, but I think it's well worth it.

I'm estimating it'll be at least a month before I get it.

I cracked up yesterday when I went to the side and saw the Quantity On Hand was -184. At least now I'm pretty sure they won't go out of business before I get around to ordering the Ghost Tac set.

I wonder if bosnianbill and the Tribe (watch the videos and/or go to the Mad Bob main page and look for the message in red at the bottom if you don't know what I'm talking about) changed the destiny of Mad Bob as a company; if, by posting that video, Bill sealed the success of MB. Maybe where before they might have come and gone in a few years, now perhaps Mad Bob will be a long-term success. Maybe they'll go from a business that can be brought to its knees by a single YouTube video to one of the premier pick suppliers. Not that their quality didn't otherwise warrant success, but there is no substitute for word-of-mouth. Especially when it's international like this.

I hope you guys write some reviews if they ever catch up and send out your orders!

Either way, I'd bet money the prices go up.

That carbon fiber folding pick set looked awfully tempting as well. There's a youtuve vid showing it weights 1.5oz!

For the folding picks they don't even accept back orders. I've decided to think they will just never go back in stock.

I'm also waiting for my ghost set, hoping I got in the queue when I made my inquiry, before BosnianBill's video, and not when they sent me the paypal request, a week later.

People forget fast, wait a few months or a year. They will probably be begging for another Bosnianbill-a-thon.

I really like the guy. I'm gathering that he must work for the ATF or some other Federal LE Agency judging by the guns he has access to. Plus his skills and sense of humor are great! I have to get one of those lock vices like he has. Seems like it makes things easier. Maybe one of those trays to.

I'm actually thinking about buying a disk detention lock and the $6 pick for said lock after watching his vid today! That's how much I like what he shows!

Did the same thing with the Mad Bob set....which hasn't arrived yet.

In one of his recent videos he shows a master EOD badge. He worked in bomb disposal in the army.

I stick with the cheap stuff from Peterson. Like one guy said, you need 1 tension wrench and 1 pick to open a lock. Maybe it's just me but a pick is a pick. I have rakes, hooks, half diamond, etc. All Peterson. Well a couple from Sparrows. I can't see high dollar custom stuff or even making picks. But like I said, that's just me.

Right. And he also showed a few nfa toys and said they were his agency's. So again my money is on federal leo.
