Help identifying a key switch lock...

Postby nxasdf » 9 Mar 2016 16:09

Hi all!
I'm a big time lurker, I take a great interest in locks and keys as a hobby. A lot of the time I can identify locks and assume their level of security, but not today...

I've recently found a lock that I'm unfamiliar with and I don't recognise the logo or key type, it's got my attention most of all because of it's application/location.

It's application is for use by emergency services to bypass the locking mechanism on the door, and, YES I already have permanent access with permission and I know it's a high security lock and can't be picked (to most) so I'm totally not interested in bypassing this. I'm purely interested in the manufacturer and the details about the possible key it accepts because it looks almost like the key is crescent shaped with a very complex profile. Because this panel was about a foot above my head on the wall, it's hard to get a clear look on it.

I don't recognise the logo, and haven't found anything with "MDP" (stamped next to it).

Thanks for any details!

PS: If I've posted in the wrong section or broken any rules, I'm sorry, it seemed the best fitting according to the section description! If anyone wants any explanation, feel free to ask.

Thank you Squelchtone and GWiens2001 for your prompt responses.

I've not heard of Pfaffenhain before, but Abus doesn't surprise me! The premises uses Abus padlocks and cylinders which in itself is unusual compared to other premises, the keyway and application just took me by complete surprise.

Thank you again for the help and the PDF guys, I'll take a good look at it! And wow, busy looking key... I bet that's hell to pick.
