Keyway ID Help

Gday Guys,

Wondering if anybody could please assist me in identifying a keyway on a lock I am repinning. The lock is marked 'Lane', which Im led to believe was either a direct subsidary of Corbin sold in AU, or an Australian company that was using Corbin Keyways. A good clue was that all blanks under 'Lane' on the blank boards down here are 'CB**' blanks

So far my research has led me here https://extranet.assaabloydss.com/library/catalogs/corbinrusswin/pdf/45078.pdf. It appears to be something from the 59 series IMHO, but the blanks only go to 6 pin, and this is a 7. It could also be something from the H series..

Does anybody agree / care to share their knowledge on this? Perhaps somebody knows what the '0' marking on the plug and body means? I have read that some American locks (ie Schlage) have the keyway marked on the rear of the plug, should I pull it and take a look?

Looks similar to an Arrow key, but I think it would need a bit of filing

Lol Looks a lot like some of the Corbin keyways I was looking at.

Mine is VERY close. I have keys on the way, hope to find out if they are the right ones lol.

From a quick look, a 70 series looks very close. But have a look around. You may find something to settle on.

Edit: Looking a bit closer I would say it's a good chance that it's a 70 series. 70 is a reverse of 60 and they come in 7 pin so, good chance

Thanks for the input guys. Im leaning towards it being a Corbin 70 series myself, if its an Emhart its only the plug, no interlocking pins inside this bad boy. Time to order some blanks, international shipment time!

I think if you order a Z1-059AD-6 which is the top level slide for the section you have it will be fine.

Thanks Jim. That was actually my first stop in the Ilco catalg, but I thought the pattern was a mirror of what I was looking at. Im assuming that what the cat displays for the profile is actually looking up the blade, hence a reverse of what I see when looking at the plug? The Corbin number you have given crosses nicely to a 1001GRM, L1001GRM for the 7 pin.

No, I made a mistake. You see the keyway in the profile drawing, so it is reversed. Look at 1001A1 in the catalog.

Ahhh, actually its 1001A2. Do you have a cross for a 7pin Corbin part no for this Jim? The Ilco is only a 5 or 6 pin.

Since you have the download of the Corbin/Russwin keying guide. Have a look at the 70 which is an unusual simplex key of theirs, very similar to what you have. I think the part would be Z70-7pin-10-B. You will have to buy minimum 50 planks to get any Corbin 7 pin blanks though!

Why is it a ripoff? He has to pay to purchase, sit on and hope to some day sell very unusual blanks. Many blanks will be such slow movers he may never sell them. Of course the prices will be accordingly higher. You want to buy 1 blank or a box of 50 your choice. You buy an unusual blank from Blue Dog for $5, you mark it up when cut for your customer to $10 and everyone is happy. You could cut a code key for $25 all from the $5 blank that he probably paid 70 cents for.

I buy from him once every couple of weeks occasionally just monthly and have done for over 10 years. Back then it was all housed in his garage at home. Liam has the blanks when nobody else does. If a customer comes in the shop and has a key we don't carry we make a point to buy at least 5 or 6 blanks or whatever the customer wants plus extras. We make enough profit on the ones we do cut to stock some slow movers. Liam will take the time to identify a blank by photo if we aren't certain.

You aren't mistaking the plug retainer pin for a cylinder pin are you? A 7 pin padlock would not be common. When you look at the side of the body the last pin is usually a solid pin that goes into a groove around the plug to hold it in place.
