Just curious if anyone has ordered from Thinkpeterson from NJ successfully or if the laws prohibit it. Thank you.

I've been wrong before, but it's my thought that the statement on Petersen's website is a CYA for them.

I buy from them regularly and never had an issue + always get what I ordered. The website is not glamorous by any stretch of the imagination and you need to order enough to offset the cost of shipping but you can absolutely order from them so long as you are not a criminal.

Definitely not a criminal -- just a hobbyist who loves puzzles and got bit by the lock picking bug.

The bite of the notorious lock picking bug can drag you down a road from which there is no coming back. You may think you are over it, then you lose a key to your padlock, and remember the half diamond and tension wrench you kept in your wallet four years ago, and wonder if you can still do it.

The bug wins again.

I buy from them every 3 or 4 months. No problems.

They seem expensive but I guess that means quality.

I also see their address at the bottom of the home page is NY. I was thinking if they were close enough to the PA border (where I live) I'd have driven to check out a showroom/store. I need a knife for combo locks. But looking at the prices on their sets I'm guessing a $15 knife from Sparrow will do just fine.

I have only one data point, but I got my Sparrows order very promptly (a few days to MA) and I am pleased with my purchases.

I also saw a bunch of Peterson picks tonight at the Boston TOOOL meeting. They are very high quality, no question.

I'm waiting over a month for my Mad Bob set. But honestly, a month is nothing. You want to know when waiting sucks....go buy an NFA toy.

You sir are not lying about that. Last one was almost 4 months, short only by a couple of days.

Let's see, my first can had me waiting for over a year before the head of the NFA branch at the time did an "in-house" check and I had it the next day.

My AOW...the guy I paid to make it basically sat on it for 6 months giving me all sorts of excuses and only sent the gun when an agent said she would be paying him a visit if he didn't comply. He's no longer in business but that was an 8 month wait IIRC.

Yeah...a month...that's cute.
