Fleshing out my Peterson tools

Looking for feedback/advice.

I'm trying to flesh out my tools so I won't have to worry about adding more stuff later. This way I have a very strong idea of how much money I'm spending on this hobby -- if I start buying a little bit here, a little bit there, etc, over time, those costs add up and tend to be even bigger (esp. where shipping is concerned). So I'm trying to cover things early.

I should have combined all of this into one order before proceeding, but I guess I'll have to make two orders.

My question:

Should this cover a vast majority of cases? Are there any extra tools you think are highly versatile that I've overlooked?

You will probably want a set of warded padlock keys/picks.
Petersons has them but you can get them elsewhere.

I added the ward picks, plus the Classic Double-Rake and Hooked-diamond picks, as well as the Classic and Slender versions of the Reach

I would get a couple of the slender reach picks. Those seem to have a pretty short shelf life with me. Its the only Peterson pick I have a tendency to bend.

You could get by on a basic hook set to start out with. I think it is great you are going all in but it would be a shame if you spent all this money and became distracted by some other hobby. Not saying that is the case with you, but it could happen.

The euro slenders and real nice (.018" -purple handle). Their site confuses me sometimes, so ignore me if you already have it in your list. If you just get 1 to try I'd recommend the half diamond.

It is a good idea to have a reach or two.

I suggest waiting for the first order to show up, figure out what hook/single pin pick you like the best, and on your next order get a bunch of them in bulk without handles. If you pick locks a lot, you will find yourself wearing the picks and bending them. They don't last forever, you lose them, give them away, bend/break them. Having bulk picks you can not care so much about is nice, and if you need to modify a pick it's nice to make one or modify a bulk pick.

Your list looks pretty good, you only suggestions are look at their "bogies" (Bogata-style rakes) and where possible try to get your picks in the .018" thickness, they are sturdy enough to stand up to lots of use but slender enough for very tough keyways.

I recommend their leather cases over the nylon one. The leather case just feels very professional. The nylon case also has a velcro closure, some might find that undesirable or too loud in certain situations.

The Just Picks (purple dipped handles) are a very good set, I can't say enough good things about them.

The bi-fold leather case is very nice although even the leather cases have Velcro closures. Space for plenty of picks and tension tools plus some of the larger bits common in field kits like plug spinners and so on. The nylon cases are good for pocket kits, especially if you want to keep things more organized than a single pocket snapcover allows.

Yes, these are great! I like the Peterson Gem, I bought spares of this one. Also the 5 piece flat tension kit is really good.

I have both the leather and nylon cases, and yes, the leather cases are very nice. The nylon ones are good too, they don't hold as much though.
