Crescent shape key lock

Postby Scorpanicus » 25 Mar 2016 2:51

I have a Chinese lock (YongZhou) that has a crescent shaped profile key with the key's five 'teeth' running down the centre inside the crescent. Been trying to pick this for some time with no luck. Anyone come across this type of lock? Any tips on picking them? Thanks.

Here's a thread about a similar lock:

Also, there's a variation on the market by a company called
金点原子 / Jīn diǎn yuánzǐ "Gold Atom" / "Golden Point Atom" / "Gold Point Atomic" http://www.atomlock.com
with the sidebar spring loaded towards the inside - these locks are essentially non-pickable and would require a special tool like this: https://blackbag.toool.nl/?p=248

Hey mh, if it's this lock, it's pickable.

Now I'm curious to see some pictures of Scorpanicus lock.

Cheers :)

Yep. Only the authentic Gold Atom locks with the holographic stickers on them are unpickable ;)

Thanks for the replies.
The keys and keyway look the same as that lock, but it's just a standard looking lock (key entry on bottom) and the barrel doesn't come out.
I've got a couple of pic's but can't see way to upload from my pc.

Bill calls these smiley locks. They are just a regular dimple lock with a curved keyway.
Use a curved flag and find good tension. I have a couple you can use straight flags on.

I've never seen a lock with a plug that looked more crappy than that one. I'm guessing it's a zamac plug with some type of brass plating... Kudos on getting it picked. :)

Think those are called fork locks in the UK. Not too bad to get your head round once you know where to start. Well done!

Apologize if mentioned, a forked type tension wrench and a diamond pick entered sideways and twisting diamond pick to push down each pin like you would a regular? pin tumbler lock makes short work of these. I believe they make some with 2 rows of pins.
