Need help with Garrison padlock

Postby Sir Colgan » 26 Mar 2016 19:22

I have a Garrison 40mm padlock that I have picked 3 times and now I'm stuck not able to pick it open.
It opens by key smoothly, so its definitely the picker anyone with knowledge or hints would be appreciated.

What's your method? SPP or rake?

Garrison is basically a master clone. Sometimes you get spools. Just lighten up on your tension, maybe try top of the keyway to give you more room. If you still have trouble, give it some lube.

I'm thinking I'm applying to much tension, or my tension wrench is binding.
I don't have a TOK wrench as of yet so I'm stuck with BOK for now.

Light tension is definitely the way to go. I round the edges of my wrenches to keep them from digging into the bottom of the keyway. There also isn't a whole lot of room in the keyway so make sure you are using a pick that doesn't overset your pins.

Also if you are having a hard time finding the binding pin apply more tension until you find and set that pin then go back to light tension.

Well I got it open... However not on a regular basis so I consider it a gift from the lock rather then a succsessful pick.
Thanks for the tips it really made the difference
