Tim's good people, he will try to help answer a question even if you are not buying something from him. BTW if anyone has a need for BEST TE sections he has a number of them for sale which are new, but being sold as used, because he already pinned them for a client and something fell through. Wayne

I'm very patient and watch for sellers who have multiple items for sale and by the wording of their offer don't seem to have a clear idea of what they are selling, if someone is close to my price I ask them how many do they have and what would they take for all of them on a Buy-It-Now sale. Last year I picked up 23, 21B series keyed with 1 control and 30 something change keys for $11 each, the locks where damm near new, but had been spray painted marker orange, a problem solved by being soaked in lacquer thinner for a couple of days, which by the way cleans up and degreases the insides very nicely too. In January I picked up 51 21B's with keys for $13 from another e-bay seller. Just for reference, list price on a keyed core with 2 keys and a control key is about $40.
Thanks, that is good information, I was informed by a smith I ran into in SFL, who is a contractor for the death-star they sell for $60. Wayne

Price I quoted was not for original BEST, so $60 is probably closer the mark.

I was quoted $74 for a schlage sfic core with keys. New. From a locksmith shop.
He said that includes the labor to pin it up.
Don't know about where you guys live. Bust sfic is VERY expensive here in bc.

They are expensive everywhere really, for new stuff. The bad and good thing comes from the people who don't know what they have. My first best lock (brand padlock, and core) were part of a 5 lock lot. I paid less than $20 and got that, a replaceable core abus, 2 warded locks (one I made a skeleton key for) and a Wally lock (that I modded into a practice lock). That's the good part. The bad part is how people see best locks going for a very high price, and think they can sell keyless padlocks that are filthy and beat up for $50 and call it vintage.
A lot of times I'll message these sellers with a $10 offer and explain how much of pain in the ass they are, and how you'll need a lock smith and blah blah. Sometimes they tell me to eff off, sometimes they counter me for $15. I quit looking for sfic locks since I got a fistful and still can't reliably open them, let alone get one to control. It will come, and when that happens I have repinned cores for them.

Alright. I just ordered 3 sfic cores, all different brands, keyways and bittings. All with control and access keys, all used. Invoiced via paypal, I paid approx $35 us, or $45 canadian. It's almost too good to be true, hope it's not lol.
Also I ordered a medeco SFIC core new from a local locksmith. He's pinning it up, I'll pick it up in the next couple days. It's not a standard medeco though, It doesn't have the rotating pins and sidebar, but it does have a couple side control pins. I was quoted $45, but not sure if that was with pinning or not.. Guess I'll find out..

Says medeco on it. X4 or 4x or w/e. But should be nice regardless. Have one best core on the way bought on ebay. Have another 4 on the way from Tim. None of them best brand. Have 2 american and 1 master sfic padlock and 2 abus sfic padlocks on the way. I should have a good representation of sfic to play with. Now I just have to stop eyeballing that lab ic annex.
