How to use an Electric Lock Pick (Video Tutorial)

Postby d_Random » 2 Feb 2016 15:59

I made this tutorial video today for the HPC ElectroPick. I hope those looking to
purchase an Electric Lock Pick or having trouble using them will find it helpful.
I welcome your feedback.

Was waiting until I had time to pay attention to your vid before watching it. Nicely done. Only thing I notice is that if there are low cuts in the key - long key pins, then having the needle of the EPG resting on the upper ward would lift the key pins too high. That tension amount is also about what you would want to use when picking a lot of deadbolts.

Nice video. I wonder if this tool wouldn't be effective on a knob or lever where the key hole is upside down, or for euro profiles.

Upside down locksets seem to be my bane...

UPDATE: HPC ElectroPick is a piece of JUNK!!
It worked, but broke in 5 months. :(

Better than one that does not work, but lasts for years. :)

Sorry for the necro but some of the newer ones look really sharp.
MHP II or the kronos look like fun. And the Automatic tensioner (Multipick ATT Electric Tensioner) looks great and expensive (almost $700) but they said it is made for European locks and wouldn't work here?

Will be able to answer your question whenever i have some spare time. Recently got a Kronos from Lauren. Certainly feels very solid and durable with crisp action.

Any news?

Do you find the ELP wear pins any faster than a snap gun or even SPP?

How about access to the pins? How do you maneuver the needle in so as not to sit upon a ward or be at an angle relative to the pins?
