Need help taking apart miniature lock

Postby Quebud » 26 Apr 2016 2:23

I've got a very small lock, I can't remember what kind it is, but extremely small with no markings on the lock or key but I was wondering how I could take it apart to look at thepins and core and/or 'bible?'. An Allen wrench fits, but there's nothing in there to bite or turn when the shackle is open. Preferably any non destructive methods and any help is appreciated, thank you.

I'm thinking first step will be to send away for some special, tiny tools,
I remember the vet on seinfeld had to do that to save a small squirrel, once

I certainly hope that was intended to be humor.

All joking aside, if your lock is a padlock and it is small and has no markings like you say you most likely won't be able to take it apart. Not all locks are made to be disassembled and after the pins are put in at the factory they put plugs in the holes in the body of the lock. If it is a laminated padlock like a master lock then you won't be able to get it apart either. Post a picture or find a similar lock on google if you can so we can get an idea of the type of lock you are talking about.
