2 in 1 or Lever Picks?

Postby perky416 » 8 May 2016 14:21

Hi guys,

So I finally got my head around picking curtain locks, decided to go and try it on my back door and what do you know it isn't a curtain lock lol.

I was thinking about ordering a 2 in 1 for picking non curtained locks, and whilst I was out I picked up a cheap lock that you can see in the picture.

Now the thing that has me is the pattern of the keyway, notice how it is "rippled" (the actual description of this keyway escapes me, if anybody could tell me the real name for it, it would be greatly appreciated) rather than straight down. I am starting to wonder if the 2 in 1 will fit past the small convex pip. There is around 1.5mm gap to insert a pick.

Would a 2 in 1 actually fit or would I be better off with pick wires?

Thanks

Sorry...cant figure out how to upload attachments. The link below is the lock I purchased, if you zoom in on the keyway you will see what I mean.

Wire picks work great on those simple locks, there's no need for a 2 in 1.

Thanks, I have a couple of gauges of spring steel to throw a few wire picks together. At what point would I move from wire picks to a 2 in 1 do you recon?

Thanks

Why would you try your picking on a lock you use?
(Not sure whether you actually attempted
picking it as the phrasing is ambiguous)
