Hello friends, This safe is for sale (legally) but the combination is unknown. It is a Mosler brand, priced for $35 at a very legitimate source. The dimensions are 39” wide, 48” tall and 34” deep Should I go for it? I know nothing about safes and picking locks, but am willing to learn, if this is a good buy. I want to place it in my house, but need to open it first, and reset the code. Thank you, desidude

It's a great deal, but getting in will not be easy, it takes a lot of time and practice to open a safe lock. We also don't teach that here at the moment. I see it is here: https://www.lonestaronline.com/listings ... 1074380405Also know that looks like a TL15 rated burglar safe, so it will not offer any fire protection. Squelchtone

Thank you squelchtone.
Can one learn how to open it though? Maybe it is a good investment to start?
How much should such a safe retail for?
I don't want to buy it and have to pay to transport it, if I am just saving a few bucks.
I really appreciate your help.

That safe probably cost $2000 brand new back in the 90's. you are saving a lot more than a few bucks if it is $35 dollars + $75 for a tow truck to bring it to your house. Opening it is another story, you could learn how to open it, it may take the next few months to a year of working on it. But have no illusions, it won't be open by the weekend. You could try 50-25-50 which is a known Mosler default factory combination, but if it is not set to that, then its months or learning ahead. The photo is not very good so I cannot tell what safe lock is on that safe, but it looks more like a Lagard and not like a normal Mosler dial. And if you end up not being able to spin the dial and learn how to open the safe, you could then pay a safe technician $300 to $1000 to come over, drill that safe, scope the combination, and repair the door. That's an insanely good deal, I'm jealous! At that price they're basically giving it away.

Heck at that price, I'd be going for it, too.

Just when you finally think you have learned it all, that is when you learn that you don't know anything yet.

Hello friends,
I hope you are doing well. Thank you for your replies.
I think I will have to pass on the safe, because my partner (female), and the one who calls the shots in the house! is not keen on getting one right now.
The other issue is also transporting it, as the location where the safe is at, is about 60 miles north, and I only have passenger styled vehicles at this time.
Thank you for your support though, it was an exciting opportunity.
