:D :D :D

You know what, the pick needs an official name. "C3P0's Bell End" does have a certain ring to it!

After a few weeks of practicing on locks with normal pins, I decided to really tackle this Abus Inox T84MB/40: http://imgur.com//cTg1qSK

I had managed to get it open once before with pure luck (my first day of picking, used picks made out of paper clips), but after that no success. I've tried to pick occasionally during the last few weeks, but now that I got my new SouthOrd set (C1500) I was finally able to get some proper feedback from the spool pin. Managed to open it twice today. For a newbie like me, this was a really welcomed confidence booster.

Illinois Duo triple-bitted wafer lock, in an Almont Re-Key body. About as high security as wafer locks come; happy to take this down. For those unfamiliar with the mechanism: http://www.lockwiki.com/index.php/Duo

Wow, nice! So that has 14 security wafers? What did you use to pick it?

That's my understanding; all active wafers (ten top/bottom and four side) have cutaways that catch at the shearline like a spool. That was pretty weird to get used to at first, getting counter-rotation with a wafer lock.

Tried many different combos of pick and tensioner, but ultimately picked it with a Peterson half diamond. Made good use of its back side, actually :) . Tensioned with a wiper insert with a very short "L", something that went into the bottom of the keyway without touching the first wafer; allowed access to all wafers while still providing rotation.

Thats a seriously cool lock Robotnik. I have a Duo core here I have been playing around with, but no lovely padlock to wrap around it!

Todays pick was a Lockwood 356S63. This one didnt take me a super long time once I started using the right pick, the Deforest seems to work well on all the Lockwood all spool stuff. I got this gem for $35AU (about 25USD). Retail is something around the mark of $120 AU (87USD), but they seem to be popular with the shoplifters due to their high value to size ratio and frequently can be had new in box, cheap, at the local Pawn Shop! Their loss is our gain I suppose. Again, If anyone is keen to trade for any of my Lockwoods, let me know. If your interested in one of these specifically, I can keep an eye out for you.

The mechanics of how it originally ended up in there are beyond me as well. What I can say is that basically a sleeve is fitted into this over-bored Re-Key - photo next to an SC1 Re-Key for size comparison below - then the core is press-fit into the sleeve. I'll leave the security vulnerabilities this creates up to everyone's undoubtedly vivid imaginations, but it was an interesting pick.

Unknown brand cruciform lock, out of my vintage payphone so I can make some keys for it. On this note, if anyone has some Silca XMR1 blanks that they would like to sell, please PM me, Australian supplier has had stock backordered since mid last year. 3pins per blade.

Alfa 156 (only trying as a last resort, didnt have "the right picks". (Lishi etc as its a laser key), but what do you know, customer happy)

2 rusted knobsets, 1 deadbolt, 3 sliding doors , a spare wheel nutlock(toyota)

Unfortunately beaten but frozen(diecast white rust) padlock but
Cant win them all all the time

Super stoked, these are really good quality Aus made stuff, and you can see how good they still look after 50+ years. Not boxed either, just in a crate of other door hardware for god knows how long. Only wanted to pick one way, not sure if thats because of the fact they have balanced pin stacks?

And the keys.. I just love the simple industrial feel of these, just LOCKWOOD and an outline of Aus.

Do you mean 530?
And it's probably that the shaft wasn't sitting square
