Here's a video anyone getting started with bumping will enjoy. I'm not a fan of this blogs/site's name choice of ScamSchool, but I believe jgor has worked with them on some of their web video segments so they're not criminals.
*The video is from 2010, so some of the information and methods presented may not be as we view it today.
Cool video Thanks for sharing! Like you, I'm not keen on the whole "Scam School" "We teach you to be a criminal!" angle, but if it gets more people to consider what they have in their own front doors that can only be a good thing . Plus pretty good beginner info for bumping.
In my experience, Informing clients about bump keys just makes them say "I have a burglar alarm" and only very rarely has it sold a high security lock for me

I submitted an article to the Locksmith Ledger and the National Locksmith earlier this year that used FBI data along with a few academic and independent research papers to illustrate that an overwhelming majority of burglars, residential and commercial, don't really care about the kind of lock on the door.
I don't want to name names or provide their replies but, suffice to say, that sort of message apparently wouldn't have gone well with their readers.

Maybe that explains why I can't remember seeing your article, even though I subscribe to both those magazines

Heck, not surprising given the support that some parties give to Kwiksets's "unpickable" "high security" Smartkey..............

I've had a few articles published through both; one was even semi about me. One editor basically said that he didn't think readers would like hearing the findings of any of the studies/reports. The other wanted me to basically contort the article and findings (cherry pick) to support the case for products that locksmiths sell. No thanks.
But if you get Keynotes, I've been in there a few dozen times over the past 5-6 years.
