So today I picked this best 7 pin padlock to operating in about a minute. I expected it to be a real pain. Honestly, I didn't think I would be able to pick it , without any practice. I sprayed a little brake cleaner to free up the pins and it was open in no time at all.

That's a very nice photo! Is that a Storm pick with a Falle curve? I like it. I tried picking with Falle curves before but could never get the hang of it as compared to a regular hook pick.

nice job,

Thank you! It's actually the curve out of the dangerfield serenity set. I know what you mean, it's a different feel. For me it's hard to tell if you're centered on a pin or not. Im pretty sure this is the first lock I picked with it. After this I'm not going to write it off so quick.

Picked up a few new to me locks at the flea market, a few gun locks and a neat little Slaymaker padlock. Got them open within a few minutes, but still fun and nice to have them around for those days when I can't seem to pick anything.

I finally found a WB padlock for my collection, and enjoyed the different feel while picking it.
In the picture you can see some old keys and blanks I got at a flea market in NYC and a key ring a very nice locksmith gave me.
Oh, I almost forgot, there are an interesting book and a cool bookmark in the background

Cheers :)

Yup! We went there as complete strangers and chatted with them for half an hour I guess. We talked about safes, locks, and security in general. Like father, like son! The nicest guys in NYC!

Cheers :)

Played with some soho and bogota rakes, had never heard of these until recently and they seem to get good write ups, the little disk camlock was off the backpan of a fichet carena safe, and to my shame, kicked my butt just about every way until I used these new rakes and got it open. Is it just me or do the locks that you expect to be easy/low security sometimes turn out to be much harder to open than supposedly high security locks.

Three small Tann safes.
Will just post an outer picture, unless the mods say I am ok to show a picture of the lock, as I know there are restrictions with regards to safes.

Two Chubb padlocks, like the cruiser but either an older or less secure version, still five lever, still opens with a cruiser pick and suspect the same lever, bolt spacing as the cruiser, although on the two I picked I didn't get hung up on anti pick notches like I would expect to when picking a cruiser.

A couple of comparison pictures to show the difference between this lock and the standard cruiser.

Two Squire Defiant padlocks, had an old key that I suspect is from this range of padlocks, although it wasn't for either of the two locks I had to open. It threw me bit looking at the key steps, it seems like on these two locks there is the bolt step, then two levers, then a ward or another solid bolt step, then three further levers, then a final bolt step. I have not broken these locks down as I will be rekeying them to use hopefully, but that seems to be the arrangement from what I can feel during picking.

I couldn't sleep last night and started going through the pile of locks on my workbench over and over. Over the course of about two hours I picked:

Two master#3s
A master 140
A master #91 something with three spools and two other security pins that i can't identify with any confidence
My Ace 527
A Falcon practice lock pinned up with two serrated pins, two spools, and a t pin
My front door (I went out to the car and locked myself out, but had my wallet picks with me)
A deadbolt with a schlage keyway but no brand markings
A mortise cylinder marked as American but lacking any security pins

And I got frustrated by my WB lock that I had down to about 30 seconds a few days ago.... Go figure.

I see safecracker33 is picking a lot, so I try to keep up with him with these two padlocks

I just got the small one, it reminded me of the other. So I pulled him out of his hook and picked it a couple times. I've got the big one for a while now, but it's still a nice pick.

Cheers :)
