if you actually change out the entire hardware and the new Weslock version takes a Schlage or Kwikset KIK/knob cylinder, companies such as Medeco, a high security lock company, make Schlage shaped/style retrofit cylinders and that would solve your problem, they are are very hard to pick and getting bump keys is not at all trivial, you pretty much have to make your own and own a key machine, something neighborhood teens arent going to have access to. I'd check with a locksmith or calling Weslock to see if that other handle set you are looking at buying can accept a Medeco cylinder that is in the format of the Schlage cylinder/tailpiece that can fit inside their hardware. or likewise, call Medeco and tell them the model of the new Weslock hardware you intend to buy and maybe they can tell you if they make a cylinder that will fit it.

good luck,

In my experience, when the outer housing is part of the moulding on the handle set, it's a KiK cylinder. The disc with the notch in it has 2 screws on either side of the primary handleset screw posts to uncover the back of the cylinder and the internal housing holding it in place behind the main plate, but I wouldn't take it apart because the actuators that fit into the notch look spring loaded and it may be difficult to get them back into place. I would take it to a locksmith to have them rekey it with pick resistant pins. But the good news is I don't think that the majority of thiefs / criminals aren't going to be carrying a set of bump keys in the Weslock keyway with them. I doubt there's much risk from possibility of bumping in this case.

Sorry didn't catch the second pic where you already got the cylinder out. I doubt you'll find any replacement cylinders that size. Dexter used to do the same thing with a 3 or 4 pin cylinder. It was the same keyway as they use now in the DE6, but just shorter (a DE2). This may take a modified WK key for the shorter length. But again, I doubt bumping would be an issue here. Picking, yes, especially since there's only 3 to 4 pins, but not bumping.
