Replacing picks

Postby sisk » 16 Jun 2016 13:32

So suppose some idiot newbie picker who shall not be named somehow managed to lose the short hook - his go to pick for SPPing - from his beginners pick set (a Southord PXS-14 set to be exact) and needed to replace it. Said newbie picker also wants to add a bogata to his pick set, along with a better case. Would I....er, he be better off buying the individual picks plus handles from Southord ($22 and change with shipping) and holding off on a new case for now or buying a Sparrows Kick Start kit with the picks he wants, the style off case he wants (although perhaps too small), and a couple extra picks and tension wrenches for $32 (includes shipping)? Or is there a better option that I haven't looked at yet?

Have you visited the forum's sponsor Lock Pick Shop to see their page of Southord picks you can buy 1 pick at a time? https://www.lockpickshop.com/BTKSP.html ... disp_order

I'm not sure if they have a single Bogota with popsickle handle, but they do have a short hook in regular and slim line. use the code PICK13 to get 10% off your order.

That's where I bought my PXS-14 set from. Unfortunately they don't have the handles. Looking at it again, though, it turns out I had 2 bogatas in my cart when I looked at the price originally, so the price for just the picks is a lot less. Given the price I'll probably go ahead and order them with metal handles from LockPickShop since I've been pretty happy with them thus far.

Another thing to remember is that the prices on the sparrows site are in canadian dollars not U.S. Not exactly sure what exchange rate is right now but its a pretty good time to buy things from sparrows if you are in the states

The exchange rate is about .75 CAD to 1.00 USD. Multiply the price on sparrows by .75 and that will give you the approximate US cost.
