Anyone have access to a solid source of wiper blade inserts? I am running low on my supply, and it seems I may have another picker nearby because my local junk yard seems to be missing wiper blades on the majority of cars. I would be willing to pay for them if they are reasonable, I just really miss buying a big handful of them for a dollar at the junk yard.

Try asking for them at one of those oil change places. They offer wiper replacement and many people will do it while they are there. They have tons of them usually.

I have a ton of the kind that are not wide enough to make picks with, but work well for making small tension wrenches. The kind wide enough for picks, I am down to about three, I think. I called one oil change place asking if they would save them for me and they said they have to throw them out, but if I want to go dumpster diving at night, they can't stop me. Not sure I really want to jump in their dumpster since they share dumpsters with a Mexican food restaurant.
Not looking for thousands of them, but looking for a few so I can keep practicing my pick making. I feel like I'm getting pretty good at it. I spend a lot of time on each pick because I have basically been hand shaping all of them with files. Could get more efficient if I invest in some more tools. I may have found a different material I can use, but I am waiting for a small order of it to arrive to see what the material is like before I buy a bunch.

See my answer as to how many above, but also if someone has some, if they would rather get something like a custom pick, I could do that too. See pic below of one of my recent ones.

I can get you some if you would be interested in trading for a bogota or two?? I THINK I have a good lead on some wipers.

I will have to send you some pictures of rakes I have made that are of the the bogota style, see if you like them, or if you would prefer something different.

Unfortunately, your 'answer' is by no means clear as to quantity. Ian_425 wrote:Not looking for thousands, but looking for a few so I can keep practicing my pick making
Again, about how many are you looking for? 10? 50? 1000? Gordon

Sure, you can PM or post them up here. I'll see if I can get you a fair amount and we will go from there.

I am a professional mechanic, so I am the lead. But I need to have some idea as to quantity. That is why I ask. Gordon

Since I do almost all of the work by hand, without power tools, if I got my hands on 25-50, I think I would be set for a while. As I am sure you know, hand filing high carbon steel and stainless steel takes time and patience haha.
