Which lock am I dealing with?

Postby CartLock » 4 Jul 2016 17:23

These locks (I think they are identical) are under a desk I purchased. The locks are on the inside and control all the drawers along each side. It is locked (I bought it that way, at a discount).

I have picked one lock before, with pins on the top, using paperclips. When I rake (i am a newbie so I hope I am using this term correctly), I think I am hearing pins at both the tops and the bottom. Can anyone help tell me what I am dealing with and if it has pins at both ends, how can I unlock this with just paper clips? Do I need to buy a kit? Any help is much appreciated.
Thank you

I would just go to a locksmith and pick up a key. I believe it is Kimball. It is a double sided wafer lock.

That's amazing. You can tell all that by a picture?
Do you believe the kimball keys are universal? Or do I need some special key for this?
Thank you

Cledry is an amazingly skilled locksmith. I'd take his advise any day.

You need a kimball key that is cut to the code 004 represents. Another desk out there might have a 002 or 003 key, and the cuts on those keys will be different than the cuts on the 004 key.
