van lock face

offset pins;
if you number the pins anticlockwise from the top, pin one and its opposite are closest to the outer lock edge, furthest away from each other, then pins two and its opposite, then three and its opposite move further in from the lock edge and closer together, pin 4 doesn't have an opposite pin, but is furthest away from the lock edge, there is nut a lot of difference from one pin to the next, but it is there, if you look at pins 1 and 4 and their relative distances in from the lock edge, it is more obvious.

most interesting. I can't wait to get home from work and post a photo of mine for comparison.

I have been looking for an example of this in the wild for a while now. I did hear that Vanlock did this. I makes for your own unique 'profile', as other keys won't fit (and therefore the picks). I heard some of them are much more obvious than this one.

The Vanlock was a lock I played with a lot a while back. I always did intend to re-visit it, because the tools I made for them were constructed from nuts, bolts, superglue and washers. Now I have some better machining capabilities it would make for a much cooler tool.

One design had the tines on little racks, making it possible to compensate for any profile, like this one.

Interesting find, where did it come from?

In the video Bosnianbill did on these he mentions that he saw someone installing on on a vending machine or something along those lines. I've slept since I watched that video, but I remember thinking that the way he tensioned it was cheating. He cut a slot to shove his prybar into.

Bosnian Bill should hang his head in shame! His Vanlock video is nothing short of comedy.

Yeah, I always felt it was cheating as well.
