Different pins

How do I know what type of pins I'm dealing with? On a pin and tumbler lock. Ive been practicing SPP and can mot figure it out, my only success has just been luck, the many I did open. I'm opening them spp, but I'm not learning anything. Any help?

The beginner's section on this site and others cover these topics exhaustively. Scanning that section, and searching for specific topics, will turn up a wealth of info.

I'm intending this not as an admonition, but as helpful advice. There's a steep learning curve with lockpicking, and it's not uncommon early on to feel like you have no idea what's going on. Learn as much as you can about how a lock works, and practice as much as you can. Good luck!

The best way to learn this in my opinion is to progress naturally through locks that you know what pins are in them. Start with a normal lock modified to one pin, then add pins one at a time up to 5 pins. Then get a lock that you know has a spool (Master #140s are good for this). Once you master that move up to one with multiple spools (Master 150). Then get something with serrated pins (American 1100s). I don't know any locks with t pins or mushroom pins to recommend, but I can tell you that mushroom pins are picked just like spools and t pins are pretty easy to detect by the time you can handle serrated pins.
