Locks available in France for begginers

Postby lord2 » 16 Nov 2004 6:09

Yes maybe my search-fu IS weak, yet I've looked at the four pages of topics in this Euro locks section and most of the discussions seem geared towards the UK. So here is what I seek:

What would be some good locks to practice on, knowing that I live in France?

So far I have managed to successfully pick what appear to be very basic padlocks (ABUS I think although I may be wrong). I'm reptty sure that these did not have any extra anti-pick security built in as that was not stated on the boxes nor did these seem very hard to pick. Also they were fairly cheap.

Right so padlocks are fun, I'd like to try a normal bolt (the ones built into doors), but am not too sure as to what is available and the complexity of each type of lock.

If any of you have iny info regarding locks readily available in France please be sure to PM me, or share with everyone here.

In the meantime I think I'll go to a big hardwarre store and buy the cheapest thing I find (like I did with padlocks).
Thanks for info / help

MAx

All the Abus padlocks I have seen in Paris' hardware stores were full of mushroom pins and generally more secure than the rest of the other brands (Master included).

Back to the easy lock question : why not try one of the cheapest (made in China or India probably) euro cylinders which can be had for 3 or 4 euros at most surplus shops ? You could even take it apart to check there are no special pins or remove a few to make it easier ...
