picking BEST CA-22

Postby Sambo975 » 11 Nov 2004 18:16

im not sure if anyone has ever picked one of these :/, but anyhow...

i had 2 of them that my dad brought home from work after they tore a building down, they were both keyed to the same keys, and i tore one apart. i found out that they were actually keyed for a 3 level masterkeying... there were 6 pins, but none of them were security pins. when all the pins are down, the plug will not spin, but as i release tension, i hear 6 distinct clicks. so all the pins must be setting? maybe there is something i dont know about these locks... any help would be appreciated...

Six clicks may not mean 6 set pins. If you've pushed a pin too far, so that the key pin is spanning the shear-line, it can quite easily stay there until you release tension.

With 3 levels of master keys for the lock you may well have set six pins and not gotten the cylinder open. You may have set a master pin to the control shear line or a control pin at the change line. You could make an SFIC turning tool to pick to the control shear line. I have always had better luck trying to hit the control line than any of the 2 to 6 operating lines.
