Different Van/Slam Lock Types and Brands

Postby femurat » 26 Jul 2016 3:16

I'm researching the different types and brands of van locks. The ones that you apply on the back doors of a van. I see the design is more or less the same, but I'm curious if there are some kinds I'm not aware of. New or old doesn't matter. Even if it's an outdated model, I'm interested in hearing about it.
I'm not discussing how to pick them, I just want to know they exist so I can decide to buy them for my collection.

Here's what I found with a quick search:

Thanks Robotnik. Those are specific hasps for a puck lock, right?

I think there are just a few models I'm aware of, but I believe there are many different possible designs. Maybe something old that worked for a while and then disappeared? I'm interested in everything specifically designed to close van doors.

Cheers :)

I really like the Tufloc design, I have a couple of the same design in my shop, but pre-medeco, they look very strong
The Tufloc scares me though, whenever I have asked the price...

No kidding on the price. They sure are proud of those babies. That is why there is not one in my collection.

Out of curiosity, do they use a vending type lock?

custom core:

it looks like just the lock body and the sleeve it is in is what acts like the "deadbolt"

They are both keyed alike and brand new old stock, so I can't say, I have never opened either package

I looked at my tuff-lock style locks today, mine were made by USCAN, they have a vending machine style plunger lock with abloy type disk lock cylinders
